Hello, I’m randy.

Born in the city of Fresno, California with a cowboy heart. From my earliest memories I wanted to be a cowboy, even though I had never been on a horse or around a cow. I used to walk up and down our suburban driveway with cowboy boots, cowboy hat, chaps and a leather rawhide vest pretending I was living in the wild west. Fast forward a few years and my family moved a few miles away to Clovis, California where my love for the cowboy, ranching lifestyle began to take root. It was there that I learned to ride, show horses and cattle. I was hooked. My next stop was Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo where I majored in Animal Science. I was a member of the 1977 National Champion Livestock and Horse Judging team and was voted outstanding Animal Science Major upon graduation. However, it was also during these college years that my life took a dramatic turn. I learned what it meant to be a follower of Jesus Christ. At that point in my life I put as much energy into pursuing Christ as I had in pursuing a career in ranching. Little did I understand at the time I could do both, but instead I abandon one and pursued the other. This led to years on the mission field both here in the states and overseas. It also led to a graduate degree in Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary. What I realize now is that many of those years in ministry were for the wrong reasons. I was trying to satisfy God when what He really wanted was for me to be who He created me to be (I think a cowboy) for his honor. Ride with me on my personal trail as I attempt to live out the truth by being watchful, standing firm in the faith, acting like a man and being strong for the next generation (2 Corinthians 16:13).
