My prayer for the chs class of ‘75’

Father I want to begin by acknowledging that “You are a good, good Father. That’s who You are” (Psalm 119:68). You have created us in Your imagine (Genesis 1:27; Psalm 139:13-16). In eternity past You also ordained that we would experience high school together and become the graduating class of 1975. You have also set a date that our time living in this world will come to an end (Psalm 139:16). For some in our class it seems to us that their time on earth was too short. However, their death is a vivid reminder that our 67 plus years of life is just a vapor (Psalm 90:9-10).

Lord for most us of we can give testimony to a life of fulfilled dreams and expectations and to a life of toil, missteps, regrets and unmet dreams. Whatever the case maybe, Father would You grant us the eyes to see and the heart to grasp that all of it is from Your good and gracious desire to gain our undivided attention. Where we are deaf and blind to Your sovereign hand in our lives would You help us see Your loving kindness and purpose in all that has come and will come our way (Genesis 50:20).

Father we thank You for the opportunity to reunite with old friends and make new ones. So whether we have days or years left upon this earth would You teach us to number our days, that we may present to You a heart of wisdom that finds our hope in You and not the things of this world (Psalm 90:12).

Now would You bless and keep us, may Your face shine upon us, and may You be gracious to us and grant us the peace that only comes as we humble ourselves at the foot of the cross (Numbers 6:24-26; Matthew 5:3).

Father thank You for the meal and for those that worked for months organizing this evening.

I pray these things in the name of Your son, Jesus Christ, in whom you have given all authority in the heavens and upon the earth and in whom every knee will bow and every tongue confess as Lord (Romans 14:11; Philippians 2:10.)

Amen!
