How to grow as a christ follower
Growth as a Christ Follower is essential. Growth means we are pushing ahead, forging new trails. We can not be neutral and sit on the rail. If we choose to give into apathy, Satan will devour us and destroy all the groundwork we have built upon. Throughout my Christian life there have definitely been times of drought. However, at my core I know that I desire to one day stand before him unashamed (I John 3:2-3). Laying a good foundation for a young horse is a slow process and even when the foundation is laid, the continual growth comes in degrees just as it does in our Christian life (2 Cor. 3:18).

it takes …
-
a church/a herd
“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day drawing near.” (Hebrews 10:23-25)
-
an abiding heart
“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit from itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:4-5)
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matt. 5:3).
-
disciplined study
“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)
“Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you grow up into salvation—if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good.” (I Peter 2:2)
-
accountability
“Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” (Proverbs 27:17)
“Brothers even if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, each of you looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:1-2)
-
service
“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” (I Cor. 15:58)
“As each one has received a gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God—” (I Peter 4:10)
